“Dave is great at getting you to actively reflect on your personal play-style and helps you identify ways to sharpen the skills you’re already good at, as well as getting you comfortable with the idea of wielding the skills you may not use that often.

                            - Adam Trabka,

                              Bad Boys

“Dave Buckman's graduate class has been the most rewarding and helpful improv learning environment I've ever experienced. He knows exactly what you need to do to become a better improviser and he has an arsenal of custom tailored exercises to help get you there.”
                          - Calan Lambert,

                            Nice Astronaut

“I've had more instruction from Dave than any other teacher, and I still benefit from his coaching. He identifies and articulates aspects of your play that everyone else has missed, and I love the collegial atmosphere he creates. When you walk out of one of Dave's workshops, you not only feel like a better improviser, you also feel like a valued contributor to a working artistic community.”

                                          - John Ratliff, Chronicle’s Best of Austin Improv Coach

Many experienced upper level performers don’t have opportunities to take workshops or get notes. If you are in a rut and haven’t felt like you have had a ‘good show’ in months or if you would like to take yourself to the next level this workshop may be for you.

This class is specifically designed for experienced improvisers, graduates of Austin’s Improv Training Centers and Improv Instructors to take an honest and supportive look at your own scene work, get some good feedback and receive notes that are fair and honest.

You will have the opportunity to try out some new exercises that will leave you feeling re-energized, focused and proud of your scene work, as well as seeing a leap in your confidence and performance abilities. You will also play with people with different levels of experience and backgrounds with the common goal of getting better at doing something that you love.

Some of the ares we will look at together include:

Who can get better? Everyone!

Dave's graduate class is the best part about being a graduate of an improv school in Austin.  It’s like the time your best friend told you that your new hair cut sucked...but then helped you fix it real quick before any of the cute, foreign TAs saw it.

                            -Ashley Siebels,

                             Wink Planet, RUSH

“The fact that this is a chance to get to what each individual can work on right away is unique and valuable. I haven’t taken another class where I immediately benefited as much.”

“Dave was able to identify key tendencies of mine that were hindering my improv and target them. I am so excited to apply my new-found perspective. He walked me through my own thought process, invited me to explore other ideas, and then gave me the support I needed to feel comfortable when attempting new territory in my scenes. Awesome. I watched my improv and the improv of my fellow classmates improve two-fold. It was inspiring.”

                                                            - Ruby Willmann, the Escort

“Brutal diagnostics, targeted exercises specific to my needs and honest feedback made this class a crucial building block for my improv. Do you want to get better? Take this class.”
                     - Sarah Marie Curry,
